CD Phoenix are pleased to announce their regional trial information for the 2018-19 season. We are planning on entering teams at U13, U14, U16 & U19 next season.

U16's - 10 - 12pm

U19's - 1 - 3pm

If you are interested in trialling for the club then please complete the below trial form and return back to Kelly Hartney via email, as detailed on the form. The deadline for the forms is Thursday 22nd March 2018.

Our regional squads require the following commitment:

  • Training - Thursday Evenings
  • Matches - mid week for practice matches (certain age groups) and then Saturday (U13, U14 & U16) / Sunday (U19) regional matches

Netball South regional league matches can start at any time between 9 - 3pm across the South region which spans from Southampton to Milton Keynes to Brighton. So there can be a fair bit of travelling involved.

Players will need to be available for the entry tournament on either Saturday / Sunday 2 or 3rd June - this is the tournament that we will need to play in to qualify for the regional league next season.

1994 - The first ever Crawley Down team

Founded in 1994, by Andy Polley, the club was formerly known as Crawley Down Netball Club, hence the CD part of our current club name. The club is based in the East Grinstead area of Sussex and draws players in from not only surrounding towns and village, but as far away as Worthing, Brighton and London.

The club has teams playing in the South Regional Leagues, from Seniors down to U14’s, we also play in local leagues in East Grinstead, Crawley and Brighton.

The main training sessions are on Thursdays. Most teams train every Thursday evening throughout the summer months and indoors on Wednesday or Thursday in the winter.

From the beginning of November to the end of March, training sessions are based indoors at East Grinstead Sports Club, Imberhorne School, Lingfield Notre Dame School, Jubilee Community Centre and Sackville School.

During the summer months and the early part of autumn, training takes place outside at the Netball Centre based at East Grinstead Sports Club, Saint Hill Road, East Grinstead.

Training session times vary according to player age:

1997 - The first team to make it to the National Finals, first player on the front row is Louise Ames, who still plays for our Senior 1st Team

Under 10’s - normally starting at 18:00 moving to 17:00 in the winter months when we go inside.

Under 11 - Under 15 usually commencing at 18:00.

Older age groups - typically start training at 19:30.

Alan Hemblade is the Club Head
and has a Level 3 coaching

Andy Polley is the Senior Squad Head
and Coaching mentor at the club.

At the end of 2003/4 season CD Phoenix Sussex NC were awarded CAPS status (Bronze Award) and Sport England Clubmark, making us the first club in Sussex to be awarded this honour. In September 2005 we were awarded the Silver Award and has since been re-awarded Silver Award in May 2009 and we are now the only Gold Award club in Sussex.
